So ManyFeathers DVD

So ManyFeathers DVD

This colorful DVD sampler of American birds has wall-to-wall feathers, compressing a year’s worth of good birding – and more – into an hour of intense video. And despite a claim that people don’t watch birds for the plot, this freestyle show about birdlife presents a remarkably interesting story line. Pictures of the Kids, For Those Who Can’t Sleep and 16 other chapters unfold with a delightful range of inspiring, thoughtful and humour moments. Makes a great gift item for just about anyone who likes to watch the birds in their backyard.

There are more the 800 species of birds in North America. It is easy for the begining bird watcher to feel over whelmed by all the different birds that might be seen. You by the field guide books and they seem to be arranged in a haphazard order which does not seem to make much sense. You are wondering where do I begin?

Start by learning how to quickly recongized what group a bird belongs to.  You will do this two ways. First by becoming familuar with the general shape and color, and the behavior of birds. Second by keeping a running tally in your head of what kinds of birds are most likely to be seen in your location during this time of the year.

The four important things to remember to idenify a bird are:

Size & Shape

Color Pattern

Behavior

Habitat

Once you become comfortable with these four items then advance to idenifying  Field Marks and Songs and Calls.  In no time you will be able to see a bird, note its traites and identify it with your field book.
