    Bird Baths for Your Entertainment

Bird baths have long been recognized not only for its use of providing a place where birds of different specimens can bathe, drink and cool off.

These baths have been considered as an attraction where people can marvel at how the birds dash on the basin of water as they get rid of the dust and debris that are confined in their feathers. And baths for birds may not just a topic of personal hygiene alone – it may just be a topic of life and death as well.

Baths can be basins placed on pedestals and columns or hanged from eaves and trees. These baths may also be carved out dints in rocks and boulders. All that is needed for a birdbath to be effective is that it must be shallow enough that the birds will not drown when they submerge into the water and high enough and is placed in an area without hiding places for unwanted predators to lurk.

The standard bird bath is constructed out of concrete being sculpted or terra cotta that has been pre-varnished and formed with the pedestal that is one meter tall and the shallow bowl. Birds, however, are more often than not undisturbed with excessive aesthetics on the bath.

There are some baths that are installed with a re-circulating pump as part of its water fountain feature or simply a device that easily refills the basin. Birds are often fascinated with the sound of streaming water, thus making an artificial water bath with fresh water sprinklers a vital element since it can easily bring birds down to a garden.

A birdbath greatly requires regular maintenance and, if possible, it must be done on a daily basis. A quick wash and refill is simple and convenient enough to save a lot of time. Cleaning birdbaths is important in order to avoid potential health effects on birds submerging in water filled with algae, excrement and fungi. Birdbaths that are made constructed out of concrete have the inclination to become mossy and slippery, so it will require a lot of scrubbing with a stiff brush and soap.

So while you search all over town for the perfect birdbath you must always keep 3 pointers in mind: select bowls that are shallow, a birdbath that comes with a ledge and clean fresh water is an integral part of it. By following these simple pointers, bird baths can be a vigorous and enjoyable thing to have for birds in the haven in your backyard.

Birds Houses that may save a Bird’s Life

Some bird’s houses have established itself as a functional temporary shelter, or even a permanent home, for domestic birds and mammalian species that go about.

A bird house, though is generally called a nest box, is a box that is man-made which gives animals a place to nest in. These houses are regularly utilized for all kinds of birds, be it wild or domesticated. Of all nest boxes, bird houses are the most common kinds of nest boxes because it is small and easy to look after while drawing birds into it.

Common nest boxes are usually constructed out of wood. The same goes for bird houses but more often than not these are made of woodcrete, which is a mixture of wood and concrete. Plenty of bird houses are created with a cuboid structure, and have a sloping roof with a hinged top, side or front to offer easy access for cleaning.

Entrances of bird houses are either holed or open-fronted and the size usually depends on the size of the bird in order for it to easily get in. There are many nest boxes constructed and sold elsewhere that have been extremely decorated or made of a very complex structure, to the extent of aping houses for humans and other structures.

A bird feels suited with a bird house depending on the size of the bird house. A small bird house, for example, may appeal to wrens and treecreepers. Big birds like owls and ducks may prefer the comfort and convenience of large bird houses. Whatever the size that birds prefer, it all depends on how well-maintained the bird house is for further use.

Without a doubt, bird houses are a much needed refuge for birds that wander around. Birds have great level of difficulty during cold seasons, particularly winter time since they need to frequently scavenge enough food at day time to get the calories that they will need in order to stay warm at night when they are not eating.

The cold weather air weakens the birds’ warmth and energy that they highly need to gather food during the day, and this is evident at night when their reserves are not stocked up enough. And once their warmth and energy are set aside, they are bound to struggle to survive in the coming days.

So in retrospect, bird’s houses are the key to help birds continue on with their lives. If you have one set on your front lawn, then you might just be helping a bird’s life in the process.

    Moving to new server

Storeblogs has been moving to a new and larger server for the past 4 weeks. During this time the site has been down many times and for long periods of time. I have only been able to post during a limited number of times. Also many of the photos on the blogs where removed in the process. This was caused when I tried to post and was told that I exceeded my allotted storage capacity space. In order to post I removed photos until it would allow me to post. What I did not know was once they where taken out of the gallery they where removed from the postings. I will be working on going back in to these posts and putting the photos back in. This will take me some time to do. This past month has been a real learning experience where this old dog has learned many new things.

Sorry for an inconvenience I may have caused you.
